Examples of mini-formats in other major sports

Rugby
Children as young as 6 are introduced to the sport through Mini-Tag and Tag Rugby. Tag teaches the fundamentals of the movement, evasion, handling and passing with teams as small as 4 or 5-a-side to encourage maximum involvement and activity.

Cricket Kwik Cricket simplifies the rules to introduce children to the basics of batting, bowling and fielding. A smaller playing area makes the game faster and small teams give everyone a turn.

Tennis Children start at 'Mini-Red' using a slow, sponge ball on half a court to develop positional and stroke play; then 'Mini-Orange' using a very-low pressure ball on a shortened court; then 'Mini-Green' using a low pressure ball on a full court; before playing the full adult game.
